Making Sight Word Recognition Fun

e had to decode every word we read, we’d never get through a book! Sight words (also called high frequency words) account for about three-quarters of the words in beginning children's texts. If students recognize the majority of words on a page, they can concentrate on meaning and comprehension.
Refer to your Volunteer Resource Binder for a list of sight words students should know in each grade level.
