by SF Ed Fund on
The May 21st End of Year Social was a success! Volunteers and teachers gathered for a pizza dinner, discussion and cornhole (beanbag toss) tournament to close out a great pilot year of the Literacy Program. We shared photos and quotes from students, volunteers and teachers, highlighted early data on student reading progression since the beginning of the year, and discussed how we will improve and grow the program moving forward next year.Together this year, Literacy Volunteers:- Served around 70 students with direct reading support- Provided EACH of those students with 30 hours of one-on-one tutoring across- 60 individualized tutoring sessions, for a total of- 2,100 hours of time donated by volunteers, which resulted in- 70% of program students finishing the year meeting expectations in reading (as opposed to just 30% at the start of the year)Thanks to all who were able to make it.
