Additional support for new and continuing volunteers!

I’m excited to announce a couple of new supports for our Literacy Volunteers. One of our goals is to develop and grow our community of volunteers in a meaningful way. We’re tackling this in two ways:

• Shadow Sessions: New volunteers will be matched with veteran volunteers for an initial Shadow Session. Our new recruits will be able to get a sense of their roles and school sites through the eyes of a seasoned volunteer, who can also lend advice and support. Let me know if you’re interested in mentoring new volunteers! • Bi-monthly Teacher/Volunteer Coffee Catch-ups: Starting in January, every other month the Education Fund will host a breakfast for volunteers and teachers at their school sites. This will be an opportunity to expand your relationship with your teacher, check in about students’ progress and chat with your fellow volunteers. Keep your eye out for an invitation during the first week of the new year.
