Each year, the Maisin Scholar Award grants scholarships to deserving graduating seniors in the San Francisco Unified School District. Maisin Scholars are promising students from underserved backgrounds who are committed to academic growth and career success. Many would be the first in their families to pursue a college education. This year, we are awarding 78 scholarships of up to $12,000 each.
As part of the recipient selection process, we invite members of the community to participate as application readers and interviewers, whose evaluations play a crucial role in narrowing down our applicant pool to the strongest candidates. As an application reader, you will score 10-15 applications from March 1 to March 8 in our online application platform. As an interviewer, you will participate in at least one of our two student interview sessions that will be held on March 30 and March 31 at our offices at 2730 Bryant Street. This requires a one-day volunteer commitment.
If you are interested in serving on the Maisin Scholar Award Review Committee, please provide your name, telephone number and email below, and we will reach out to you between January and February with next steps. Thank you for your dedication to our school district's students and to their college success!
