The San Francisco Education Fund Announces Gina M. Fromer as Incoming Chief Executive Officer

Gina M. Fromer has devoted her energy and talent to serving the needs of children, youth, and families in Bay Area communities and across California. Gina is the new Chief Executive Officer for the San Francisco Education Fund. The Education Fund envisions a world where our public schools are as renowned as our City. San Franciscans, known for their ingenuity, innovation and passion, partner with the Education Fund to help all of our students succeed. Gina is steering our next phase of growth and community service innovation to improve education equality at San Francisco Public Schools.

Gina came to the Education Fund from the YMCA of the East Bay where she served as Vice President/Regional Executive Director for its West Contra Costa Region.

Prior to that, Gina served as the California State Director of The Trust for Public Land (TPL). During her tenure with TPL, she created new parks in park-poor neighborhoods across California and protected treasure landscapes from the forests of the North Coast to the most southern parts of our state. She also oversaw a comprehensive strategic planning process for the California office and lead its Climate Conservation program, providing agency and nonprofit partners with tools to address climate change.

Before her work at The Trust for Public Land, Gina served for 14 years as an organizational leader with the YMCA of San Francisco, where she developed a comprehensive list of programs and services, raised over 9 million dollars, finished a capital campaign for a building renovation and design, and built strong and influential boards. Advancing through multiple executive roles to District Vice President, Gina was responsible for three YMCA branches serving over 15,000 families. Prior to her work at the YMCA of SF, she served for six years as a Manager for the EOC Head Start Program.

Gina holds a BA in Psychology, from Dominican University of CA, an MS in Industrial Psychology from the University of Phoenix, where she graduated Cum Laude, and is a certified life coach. She is the recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Award for Community Service, the KQED Local Heroes Award, and a host of other awards and honors.
