Back to School Lunch – Reserve Your Seats Now

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival

October 1, 2010 – Do you enjoy music? If so, this is a great opportunity to have some fun and “tune in” to the community. A team of volunteers chaperone 4,000 middle school students during the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival at Golden Gate Park. Come on down! Read more.

Celebrity Waiter Dinner

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 – Celebrity Waiter Dinner brings top San Francisco CEOs and philanthropists as celebrity waiters to serve a delicious meal to their friends and associates. Celebrity waiters vie for the “Most Appreciated Celebrity Waiter Award” at the end of the evening. Mark Laret, CEO of UCSF Medical Center, will be present to defend his title of Most Appreciated Waiter.


The Youth Are Resources Conference (YAR)

TBD, December 2010 – YAR is a conference by and for youth who want to make a difference in their schools and communities. More than 300 high school students from San Francisco Unified as well as students from all across California participate in workshops and meet other youth who care about the same issues. Volunteers are needed to help set up, monitor workshop rooms, take photos and more.

African American Read-in

- Volunteers Needed

TBD, February 2011 – To kick off Black History Month and celebrate the contributions of African Americans to literature, volunteers read aloud books written and/or illustrated by African American authors to classrooms across the city.


Principal for a Day

TBD, February 2011 - Local community and business leaders shadow school principals throughout SFUSD city campuses. During the visits, these principals for a day participate in a wide variety of school activities. The event culminates with a luncheon held at AT&T Park.

May is Teacher Appreciation Month

May 2010 - The perfect opportunity to say “Thank you!” Help organize a special event for that special teacher and show your appreciation and commitment by volunteering in a classroom at your favorite school. Other exciting events are being planned, so stay tuned for more information!


School Volunteers Spring Recognition

May 26, 2010 – Party! Join us for this very special occasion as we celebrate our volunteer community—this year the party is at the Golden Gate Yacht Club.
